Campus Trends and Research

In 1996, The Dean of Students Office commissioned the first comprehensive assessment of the campus climate as a formal way to help us make decisions about improving the campus environment. This survey has been conducted every five years since, and evaluates degree of student satisfaction and performance measures with respect to:

  • Diversity
  • Campus Resources
  • Campus Safety
  • Facilities
  • Technology
  • Campus Events/Activities
  • Social Climate
  • The Faculty
  • Classroom Experience

The questions asked of the students have changed over the years as new issues emerge.  Topics added to the 2006 survey included:

  • On-line communities
  • The graduate student experience
  • Parents' involvement and methods of communication with their sons and daughters

Students report having a positive experience at the UA: the most popular descriptions of the campus climate are that it is friendly/social, enjoyable and diverse.
