Sherad Robbins, Assistant Dean of Students - was awarded the 2017 Peter Likins Inclusive Excellence Award for Staff of the Year
Kathy Adams Riester, Associate Dean of Students and Dr. Judy Marquez Kiyama, Dr. Casandra Harper, Delma Ramos, David Aguayo, and Laura Page - were awarded the Association of Higher Education Parent/Family Programs Professional Outstanding Contribution to Research and/or Literature for Parent and Family Engagement in Higher Education (2015), AEHE volume 41, Number 6
Dan Xayaphanh, Program Director-APASA and Marla Franco, Director, Assessment - Research, were selected for the 2015 NASPA Assessment, Evaluation and Research Knowledge Community Innovation Award. This award is given to individuals who are actively involved in leading student affairs assessment activities, have been innovative in their assessment approach, and have demonstrated an impact on the culture of assessment within their department, division, or across campus. They were honored at the Keynote of the NASPA Assessment and Persistence Conference in Boston, June 25-27, 2015.
ASUA Student Legal Services

The University of Arizona Student Legal Services was recognized for its 15 years of participation and service. Each year at the conference member institutions are recognized for milestone anniversary participations. USLSA-Western Region is a non-profit professional association of legal service providers on campuses of higher education committed to providing outstanding legal educational opportunities and resources to its member schools.
May 2016
Janis C. Gallego, J.D., Student Legal Services Advisor, received an award from the Pima County Bar Association recognizing her work in taking the initiative in the development of a new referral program that provides University of Arizona students discounted legal advice when their legal needs exceed the resources provided by Student Legal Services.
Native American Student Affairs
Monty Begaye, Graduate Assistant for Native American Affairs, was 1 of 10 candidates selected as a winner of the College Board Professional Fellowship. Recipients of this award are rising leaders in effectively closing the achievement and attainment gaps that separate African American, Latino and/or Native American students from their peers. Recipients receive a monetary award, attendance (fully funded) at the 2016 College Board Forum in Chicago, Il., and mentorship opportunities.
LGBTQ Affairs
Chris Sogge, Graduate Assistant for LGBTQ Affairs, received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award as part of the 2015 Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Academic Initiatives and Student Success Impact Awards. This award was presented at the Annual Student Affairs Symposium on 11/3/15. Impact Awards are given to those innovators who affect students in their daily quest to create an exceptional Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Academic Initiatives and Student Success division. Award winners support the UA mission and values by delivering exemplary programs, services, resources, and facilities that have a measurable and positive impact on the development and retention of students and contribute to the well-being of our community.
Jen Hoefle Olson, Program Director for LGBTQ Affairs, was presented the Assessment Champion Award, along with the other members of the LGBTQA+ Needs Assessment Team (Lauren Pring, Peggy Glider, and Pat Manning), as part of the 2015 Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Academic Initiatives and Student Success Impact Awards. This award was presented at the Annual Student Affairs Symposium on 11/3/15. Lauren Leif, Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Programs, received the Order of Omega Chapter Advisor of the Year Award for her work with our chapter of the honorary.
UA Office of Sustainability
Ben Champion, director of the UA Office of Sustainability, received one of six 2014 DuPont Emerging Leaders Scholarships from the Design Futures Council. This scholarship recognizes his contribution to creating more sustainable communities. As a scholarship recipient, Champion received support to attend the 13th annual Leadership Summit on Sustainable Design in Deer Valley, Utah.
